August Events!

2 Aug

Front Parlor is a community devoted to hearing and telling stories. We generally have 8-12 storytellers, five or so minutes each, telling true stories. No notes. It’s just like The Moth radio hour, except it’s local storytellers in front of the most loving and supportive audiences anywhere.

This is what we have lined up for August…

Troy

Tuesday, August 13 @ Little Pecks (7:30 – 9:30 pm)
Hosted by Mike De Socio

Theme: “Keeping Up”

One way or another, we always seem to be comparing ourselves to our peers – friends, coworkers, neighbors, classmates. This time of year it seems to be a competition for who has the splashiest vacation photos on Instagram. But when we’re not Keeping Up With The Joneses, some of us are just trying to keep up with life. Tell us a story about the struggle, whether you were falling behind or making the grade.

Albany

Monday, August 19 @ The Olde English Pub (7:30 – 9:30 pm)
Hosted by Gregor Wynnyczuk

Theme: “Roadtrip”

Summer is always a great time to get out on the road. Family vacation, visiting friends, heading back to school – we just tend to drive more in the summer. But often the story is not in the destination, but in the trip.

This month, consider the things that happened along the way, and bring a story about the road less, or more, travelled.

Story Club

Our monthly story circle is on summer vacation but will back in September!
